The network honchos, on-air “talent,” editors and reporters have a big problem over at CNN: They are all so mentally handicapped by Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) they literally are incapable of rational thought.
In case you missed it, CNN hasn’t had a good couple of weeks. The network:
— Has been forced to retract a fake news hit piece about an alleged “Russia” connection involving former Donald J. Trump campaign official Anthony Scaramucci;
— Had three staff, including a seasoned journalist who spent many years at The New York Times, resign over the fake story;
— Had producers and on-air contributor Van Jones outed by Project Veritas, in a series of undercover journalism stings, admitting that the Trump-Russia narrative is “bulls**t” and that it’s being pushed merely for ratings;
— Got a ton of negative feedback over its threat to blackmail a Reddit user who created a comical meme of Trump during his WWE wrestling days pummeling a guy whose face was covered with a CNN logo;
— Has watched its ratings free-fall during primetime from respectable to tenth this past week alone, behind Fox News and MSNBC, but also to FX, TLC, The Discovery Channel — and even children’s TV network Nick-at-Nite.
And now, we learn, network execs were in a panic after host Jake Tapper, who used to be a respected journalist while still with ABC News, was erroneously featured on the front page of a recent National Enquirer that contained — wait for it — fake news! They never learn.
Tapper did a segment on his “The Lead” show about Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski’s claim that Donald Trump tried to blackmail them with a hit piece in the National Enquirer.
During the piece, it showed a cover from the tabloid, which seemed to be about a scandal involving GOP senator Ted Cruz and his wife, Heidi Cruz.
Unfortunately, the cover is — literally — fake news.
The cover — which has the headline “Heidi Cruz: Betrayed by Cheating Husband!” and promised details on a “sordid threesome, sleazy love letters and sensational photo proof — has never appeared on the National Enquirer, according to sources at the magazine.
Some speculate that the cover was created as click bait, which tends to happen quite a bit these days as websites compete for eyes — and dollars.
Nevertheless, given what has happened to the network of late, execs are taking this latest screw-up very seriously; the matter, reportedly, has been referred for further investigation to CNN’s standards and practices department (we didn’t even know they had one) for review.
But honestly, it may be too little, too late. If you watch the idiots who were captured on tape by Project Veritas discussing the pervasiveness of Trump hate at CNN, you will understand that TDS is a real thing and that the entire network is stricken by it — meaning, the people who work there are physically and mentally incapable of performing even basic journalistic standards of fact-checking and verification before airing or publishing negative things about the president.
That’s their modus operandi; it’s in the network’s DNA, so to speak. They can’t help themselves. And apparently, they don’t want to. (RELATED: 2018 Prediction: CNN Collapses And Goes Bankrupt After Trump’s FDA Bans Prescription Drug TV Commercials)
As The National Sentinel reported, just this week the network’s White House correspondent, Jim Acosta, who is becoming more unhinged by the week, “accused President Donald J. Trump of ‘fake news’ for claiming that ‘three or four’ intelligence agencies had identified Russia as the culprit in hacking during the 2016 presidential election.”
The president happens to be right. Last week The Associated Press and The New York Times reluctantly published corrections retracting widely reported claims that all 17 U.S. intelligence agencies agreed that the Russians interfered in the 2016 election with the goal of helping Donald Trump.
Opps.
Every day now, more Americans tune out the “Fraudulent News Network” because nearly every day it proves unworthy of our attention and our trust.
